Start of leg 5.

Directions to start

From A303 Southfields roundabout head into South Petherton crossing 2 mini roundabouts to T junction turn right and at bottom of hill turn left to East Lambrook. At T junction turn right and you will eventually come to the Mill continue to bridge and turn left just before it. Keep on this road until just before the T junction in Kingsbury there are large double tubular steel field gates on your right. Parking is just inside the field for use on race day only. From Langport take the road to Crewkerne, Muchelney and Kingsbury Episcopi. Please do not arrive late  as this is also the Finish line.

Route

We follow the east variation of the trail.

  • Route finding on this stage needs careful attention, it is not obvious at times.
  • Late Note! On the section from Gawbridge Mill to the Parrett Works across the fields the third field has recently been ploughed and planted. We have been asked to keep to the perimeter of this field to minimise any damage.
  • At Stoke turn right to climb hill, after 50 yards there is a path up some steps opposite the car park. This path leads up to a path , cross this and head up towards monument. You need to then head left and look out for a path up stone steps to the monument. Once at the top follow the ramparts and drop down then to a gate way into into the car park by the Prince of Wales.
  • We have a checkpoint at the Prince of Wales (Grid Ref ST479169) where you will be registered, 15 minutes penalty for no shows.

  • From the checkpoint follow road around to the left and behind the pub to the T Junction. You can drop down to BBQ area to cut off some of road. At Norton Car Park ensure you take the correct path down to Little Norton.

Support and Spectating

The ideal place will be at Ham hill in the Prince of Wales or Norton Car parks. Parking is limited at Lower Stratton so it is best left for runners only. There is limited parking at Daniels Farm for runners and race officials but please keep the lanes clear.
